CTR Butanding Embroidery Kit
The whale shark or butanding as we call them, is the world’s largest fish — the largest recorded is 62ft 😮! These gentle giants are found in the tropical waters of the Philippines, most commonly in Oslob, Leyte, Tubbataha and Donsol. We tried to capture this beautiful scene of whalesharks from a top view.
Embroider in the whalesharks following the movement of their stripes, add in the spots. Have fun threading in the corals, seaweeds, humans and tiny fish (french knots). Thread-paint in the seawater in different shades of blues, in varied lengths, mimicking the flow of the ocean currents. Leave in your wooden hoop to display and hang, frame, or incorporate into a functional piece (a bag? A pillow?)
Tutorials will be posted in our instagram account :)
Kits come with everything you need - cloth, tracing paper, pattern, threads, needles and a hoop. All you need more is a pencil and scissors.
Colors/Patterns are not the exact same match as the kit, as we made a few more improvements to the test design. Kits might not come in exactly the same shade.
